Missed call opportunity calculator

How much business could be in the calls you don't answer? Enter three numbers from your own business to get a rough monthly estimate. Nothing you type leaves your browser, and there's nothing to sign up for.

Calls that reach voicemail or ring out. Your phone provider's call log can show this.

Of those callers, the percentage you'd expect to book if someone had answered.

What a typical job or first visit is worth to you, in US dollars.

Potential customers from missed calls, per month

6

Potential revenue opportunity, per month

$1,800

20 missed calls × 30% = 6 potential customers

6 × $300 = $1,800

A hypothetical estimate from your own numbers, not a forecast or a guarantee of revenue or profit.

How the estimate works

Two multiplications, using only the numbers you enter:

  1. Potential monthly opportunities = missed calls per month × the share that could become customers.
  2. Potential revenue opportunity = potential monthly opportunities × average revenue per new customer.

For example, 20 missed calls a month, 30% of which might book a $300 job, gives 6 potential customers and a $1,800 potential revenue opportunity for that month.

Choosing your numbers

  • Missed calls: your phone provider's call log usually shows unanswered calls and voicemails. Count calls from customers, not spam or suppliers.
  • Share that could become customers: think about how many answered calls turn into bookings today, and be conservative. Some missed callers would have called back or were never going to buy.
  • Average revenue: what a typical first job or visit is worth to you. Use revenue, not profit, and remember it's an average.

What this estimate isn't

It's a hypothetical figure built entirely from your assumptions. It isn't a forecast, it isn't profit, and it isn't revenue that DeskTeam or any other service will generate for you. Answering more calls doesn't guarantee more bookings: some callers want a price you can't offer, need a service you don't provide or are outside your area. Use it to judge whether missed calls are worth your attention, not as a promise.

If missed calls turn out to matter

Common options are answering more calls yourself, forwarding unanswered calls to a person, using a traditional answering service, or an AI receptionist. Our guide on AI receptionists vs. answering services compares the last two.
